We checked in around 11 AM and the front desk agent upgraded us from standard room to partial ocean view room.

Pool Area

Grand Hyatt Kauai has the best resort pools that I have ever stayed in my life. There are larger pools as well as pools snaking around the property where you can have your own private area. There are pool areas hidden by rocks where it feels like you are alone in an oasis.

Right next to the resort is the Shipwreck Beach which is more for surfing than swimming as the waves are more on the rough side.

Shipwreck Beach by the resort

We ended up walking towards the end of the cliff and walked up (pretty easy walk of less than 10 mins) and got a great view of the resort and the beach from the top of the cliff

Thumbs up:

  • The best pool in any resort I have ever stayed in my life.
  • Front desk is attentive to Hyatt Platinum members as we got upgraded to a partial ocean view from a standard view.
  • There are a few dining locations nearby if you don’t want to splurge on dining in the resort.

Thumbs down:

  • Fairly expensive both in regards to paying with points or cash.
