Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa
Kawarau Village, 79 Peninsula Rd, Queenstown, 9300, New Zealand

Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa is a Category 7 Hilton Property located just 5 minutes from Queenstown International Airport. It is located next door to the other Hilton property in the area that I reviewed earlier, the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Queenstown. This hotel like the Doubletree does not offer complimentary airport shuttle and a cab costs about $25 NZD one-way. The hotel does offer complimentary shuttle (at designated schedule)  and also a water taxi ($10 NZD per person) to Queenstown city center. A complimentary night at this hotel costs 60,000 Hilton points.

Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa

We checked in around early afternoon. Our check-in agent was very friendly and helpful and upgraded us to a lake-front suite. We also got 2 vouchers for welcome drinks at the Cru Wine Bar & Lounge.

Lakeview King Room
Bathroom (with heated floors)
Living room with gas fireplace
Nice patio with lake view

The views from the bedroom as well as the patio were fantastic. You could spend hours just sitting there and enjoying the scenery.

With Karen’s elite status with Hilton, we got complimentary breakfast at the Wakatipu Grill.

Wakatipu Grill Restaurant

The Wakatipu Grill had a wide array of breakfast items (both western and asian) and there definitely was something for even the pickiest of eaters!!

The restaurant had a nice outdoor seating area but since we were in a rush to join our Milford sound coach tour, we did not get to enjoy it that day.

Nice outdoor seating by restaurant

Thumbs up:

  • Only 5 minutes from Queenstown Airport.
  • Great views of Lake Wakatipu.
  • Excellent walking trail by Lake Wakatipu that starts right beside the hotel.
  • Excellent breakfast buffet
  • Very friendly, courteous and responsive front desk. We got upgraded to a lake-front suite.

Thumbs down:

  • Far away from Queenstown city center with not so frequent timings of the courtesy shuttle.
  • No other dining options nearby outside of the hotel restaurants.
  • Water-taxi costs $10 NZD per person
