Day 1:
We arrived late afternoon on Vis via Jadrolinija ferry from Split. The main purpose of staying in Vis was to visit the famous Blue Cave next day. You can visit the Blue Cave on a day trip from Split, but I read online that these trips last whole day and include 5-6 different islands and apparently the ride is not very comfortable. We wanted to see only the Blue Cave and there is a reliable company called Alternatura that operates Blue Cave tour out of a neighboring town of Komiza. This tour lasts 3 hours and only involves the Blue Cave.
After dropping off our luggage at our apartment (Villa Rosa), we walked along the shore line for 15 minutes to arrive at Boccadoro Restaurant (located at Hotel San Giorgio).
My Branzino was excellent and the fennel paired very well with the fish and pea puree. Karen felt her risotto lacked citrus which would have added more flavor. After dinner we walked back to the hotel along the shoreline.
Day 2:
We started the day early with taxi cab ride (Taxi Smile) that Alternatura arranged for us. It cost 30Euro for 24 km round trip and the taxi driver waited for us the whole time in Komiza.
After paying for our tour at the main office, we got on a speed boat. It was 6 tourists including us and boat driver with a guide. The speedboat ride was fast and thrilling (but in hindsight not very safe as none of us were wearing any lifejackets)!!
The speedboat ride from Komiza to Bisevo island takes just 15 minutes. Our guide paid for the tickets and we got on another smaller boat that takes the visitors to the Blue Cave. The opening of the blue cave is very small and only these special smaller boats get in.
After returning to the ticketing area of Bisevo, we transferred back to the speedboat for our ride back to Komiza.
After reaching Komiza, our cab driver drove us back to our apartment in Vis. Our ferry back to Split did not leave till 3 PM so we requested a late checkout for 1 PM and we got it from our apartment owner. We walked around and found this nice lemonade store.
We checked out of our apartment with luggage and went to pizza place on the water, within 2 minutes walking distance from the ferry dock.
Our Jadrolinija ferry arrived around 1 hour before scheduled departure and we made our way into the ferry for ride back to Split.
