Day 1:
We arrived from Plitvice Lakes National Park late afternoon and after checking into our hotel (AC Hotel Split) we took an uber to Old Town for dinner. We were having dinner at Fig Split located right in the heart of Old town Split.
My green chilli buritto was outstanding. This was a very highly rated restaurant on Tripadvisor and it shows.
After dinner we walked around Diocletian’s Palace a bit but as soon as lightning and thunder started we quickly grabbed an Uber and returned to hotel.
Day 2:
We had 5 hours to do all the sightseeing of the Old Town Split as we were leaving for Vis in late afternoon. Our first stop was Diocletian’s Palace in Old Town Split.
The oculus of the vestibuleWe walked around the ruins as well as the various restaurants and apartments all coexisting harmoniously in Old town.
It does get very hot in summer here. We were craving some gelato and I had researched a gelateria that I wanted to visit. Got lost for 5 minutes trying to find it even with google maps.
Soon it was time to go back to the hotel to pick up our luggage and come back to the port for our ferry to Vis.
Day 3:
We arrived early evening from Vis by Jadrolinija ferry and checked into our hotel (Sky Suites Split). We had read glowing reviews of this restaurant in Old Town called Villa Spliza. Various posters had mentioned to arrive at the restaurant early due to limited seating. We walked from hotel to restaurant (15 minutes) and luckily there was no wait at the time for a seat. We ordered a plate of Grilled Trout with spinach & potatoes and a plate of eggplant with feta & tomatoes. The fish and the potatoes were incredibly delicious and Karen said that its her top 3 favorite eggplant she has ever had in her life. The food surpassed our expectations for sure!!
We had already done all the sightseeing of Old Town before visiting Vis so we went back to the hotel. We departed for Dubrovnik from the port of Split early next morning.
