Days Hotel London-Waterloo is located in the south bank of the Thames, minutes from the London Waterloo Train Station. The closest metro station is Lambeth North (Bakerloo line). Also minutes away is the Waterloo metro station (Bakerloo line, Jubilee line and Northern line). Being a good location is the prime selling point of this hotel. Another selling point is that a reward night at this centrally located property only costs 20,000 Wyndham Rewards points.
We arrived early and the front desk informed us that they had both rooms ready for us. I was under the impression that there is complimentary breakfast at the hotel but we were informed that breakfast cost 7.95 GBP for Continental and 9.95 GBP for full English.
The rooms were on the smaller size. No working air-conditioner in the room but the windows would open and we kept it that way. The tv did not play the channel showing world cup 2014 and we ended up watching the semifinal (Netherlands vs. Argentina in the lobby).
The bed was not too comfortable.
The bathroom was functional and water-pressure in the shower good. They did not provide any brand name toiletries and instead had generic shampoo+conditioner dispenser in the shower. Luckily I had some from our previous stays on the trip.
Thumbs up:
- Good location in the south bank walking distance to London Waterloo station, London Eye, and Big Ben.
- Within 5 minutes walking distance to nearest metro station, Lambeth North.
- Good value for Wyndham Rewards points comparing what hotels cost in the area.
- A few dining options nearby including a pretty good Indian restaurant (Cafe Ishaq) just outside the hotel. Also a Tesco grocery store within close walking distance as well as 2 convenience stores selling sandwiches/bread/grocery within 3 minutes walk.
Thumbs down:
- No complimentary breakfast.
- No free internet in the business center. Wifi is free though.
- No working air-conditioner in the room. Although even for a hot winter, it was not bad.
- Very basic accommodation. Don’t expect a Ritz and you will not be disappointed.
