Caribe Hilton

The Caribe Hilton is a Category 6 Hilton property located by the Condado Lagoon area of San Juan. The hotel is located about 15 minutes from the international airport (Luiz Munoz Marin Airport) and costs approximately $22 one way by cab (luggage charges extra).
Since we were staying in San Juan for just a night after returning from our 7 Night Carnival Cruise, I had booked only 1 room (2 Double Bed Room) for the 4 of us for 50,000 points.
Check-in was quick. Karen has Hilton HHonors Gold status and since the booking was under her name, we were entitled for free breakfast for 2 guests. However, the front desk lady was kind enough to give us 4 vouchers for the complimentary breakfast. Awesome !!
The room is fairly decent sized, however the bed was on the comfortable side, if a bit too soft for my liking if I may add.
The property is located right on the Atlantic ocean and there are rocks laid out along the side of the property to prevent erosion.
There is an artificial lagoon (created by putting rocks on the ocean to break down the waves).
We used our complimentary breakfast voucher in the morning at the onsite restaurant IL Giardino La Trattoria (i think !!). They only offer fruits, bread and juice for the complimentary and up-charge for continental breakfast. The restaurants are pricey around here however there is a Quiznos on this property which makes for a very affordable dining option.
One thing I would like to mention is that the rooms had very thin walls. Guests in our neighboring room decided to have some loud “fun” around 2 am and it kept us up the whole time it was going on. 🙂 The reason could have been that we were assigned those rooms that have adjoining doors which might prevent good soundproofing.
