Sarova Mara Game Camp
Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya

We stayed at the Sarova Mara Game Camp through our package tour (2 Night – 3 Day Masai Mara Safari) with Natural World Kenya Safaris. The tour operator’s website listed Sarova Mara Camp along with 4 other lodging options under “Luxury Lodging” option along with other lodges under “Standard Lodging” and “Economy Tented Camp” option. After reading the numerous rave reviews of the Sarova Mara Camp on Tripadvisor, I was sold and went with this one.

Unlike some other game camps, Sarova Mara camp is located inside the boundary of the Masai Mara reserve. This means that you can be right in the thick of things soon after you exit the property and not have to drive some distance and waste time getting into and out of the reserve park.

We had booked two tents for 4 of us. There are “Club Tents”, “Standard Tents” and “Family Tents” on the property and we were staying in the “Standard Tents”.

Outside our tent

The interior of the tent was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and made for a great night sleep. At night, our room attendants would come by to hang the mosquito nets around the bed and put a hot water bag below the blankets to warm up the bed.

The bathroom had toilet, sink and walk-in shower. To be honest, walking in the bathroom, you would not know you were staying in a tent.

The property even has a swimming pool in it however we did not really try it out because the water temperature ran a bit on the colder side.

Isokun Restaurant

Our package included meals at the Isokun Restaurant (drinks excluded). All the meals were in buffet format and the selection was pretty extensive. There were quite a few local selections as well as western. However, the main chef was Indian and he would serve a lot of Indian menu in the buffet which pleased my parents a lot.

Lunch Buffet
Some Indian menu for lunch – chicken, Paneer, Papad and Biriyani Rice
Dessert

On our second day, the breakfast was arranged out in the open overlooking a creek. We even saw some exotic birds and even a baboon close-by while we dined.
