Doubletree Hotel Queenstown

I had booked my parents at this hotel while we stayed at the next door Hilton Queenstown. While checking in my parents, the front desk agent gave us warm cookies (Doubletree signature move).

The room had some nice mountain views and the floor had nice Lake Wakatipu views.

The kitchen came fully equipped with oven, microwave and a fridge.

Business Center

Since the room was booked under me (with Hilton HHonors Gold status), complimentary breakfast for two was offered. My parents later told me that it was actually pretty good with lots of menu items.

Restaurant

We did try out the Stacks pub located on the property for our dinner. We had a 2 large pizzas, one vegetarian and another with lamb shoulder meat. Both were pretty good although the wait times were terrible (about an hour wait after ordering!!).

We also ended up using the water taxi instead of the complimentary shuttle for a trip to Queenstown town center. The water taxi is cash only (payable to the taxi operator), $10 NZD per person and needs to be booked in advance at the hotel front desk.

Thumbs up:

  • Only 5 minutes from Queenstown Airport.
  • Great views of Lake Wakatipu.
  • Excellent walking trail by Lake Wakatipu that starts right beside the hotel.
  • Pretty good breakfast buffet

Thumbs down:

  • Far away from Queenstown city center with not so frequent timings of the courtesy shuttle.
  • Water-taxi costs $10 NZD per person
