Today we were going to drive 305 km from Hofn to our hotel for the night (Hotel Skógafoss) while seeing various attractions along the way.
After driving about 80km we arrived at Jokulsarlon Glacial lagoon. Even though we had already visited this lagoon the day before, we saw signs to a different parking lot and decided to check it out.
After spending a short time taking pictures we continued our journey towards the other popular glacial lagoon that we skipped the day before, Fjallsárlón Glacial lagoon.
Soon we arrived at Fjallsarlon Glacial lagoon. This lagoon is quite smaller and you can see the glacier wall compared to Jokulsarlon and we saw zodiac boats get quite close to the wall.
We walked along the lagoon for 30 minutes. This lagoon is much less visited and we enjoyed the quietness.
It was noon by this time so we stopped by a gas station and got hotdogs and continued our way to Skaftafell Nature reserve. This was going to be our longest hike of 1.5 hours round trip to see Svartifoss waterfalls.
On the way to see Svartifoss waterfalls we came across another waterfall on the route, Hundafoss waterfalls.
After walking past Hundafoss for a while, we finally saw Svartifoss at a distance.
After spending some time at Svartifoss waterfall we walked back for 45 minutes to the parking lot and continued our journey onwards. Next stop was probably the most stunningly beautiful spot in Iceland in my opinion, Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon. The canyon is a mere 15 minutes walk from the visitor parking lot.
After Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon we proceeded towards town of Vik. We passed some more waterfalls along the way (since we were backtracking we had seen these while driving from Vik to Hofn).
After reaching Vik, we decided to have dinner at a Halldórskaffi cafe.
After dinner we drove to our hotel for the night, Hótel Skógafoss by EJ Hotels. The hotel is located inside the Skogafoss waterfalls park. We were going to check out the falls next day but decided to walk to it before dusk anyways.
