Flight: Starlux Airlines JX 1 from Los Angeles to Taipei
Duration: 14 hours 40 minutes
Aircraft: A359 (Airbus 350-900)
Class: Business
Seat: 2A(Window)
Seat Specification: True Flat Bed, Suites. Seat width: 19.6″, Bed length: 6’7″
This is my second time flying Starlux Airlines Business class and it has quickly become my 2nd favorite Business class product after Qatar Qsuites. The Airbus A350 Business class has 6 rows of 1 – 2 – 1 suites and with a total of 26 business class seats. The first row in business class cabin is more spacious with privacy doors and high screen partition and marketed as first class although I have seen it unoccupied on both of my Starlux business class trips.
Starlux allows you to pre-select dinner & breakfast entrée before the flight from expanded menu selection items (beyond what’s available onboard). I had pre-selected Lobster Thermidor which was indeed not available on menu onboard.
The lobster thermidor was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
After dinner laid out the seat in bed mode. Starlux provides seat mattress padding and the flight attendant volunteered to fit the mattress padding which I appreciated.
The seat was great for sleeping. The mattress felt firm and thick and I had a great night sleep of about 7-8 hours.
This was my first time having chicken & waffles and glad I checked off the list. I don’t know if its supposed to be this way but the waffles were not crispy and rather soft. Same goes for the chicken which had flavor but was not crispy at all.
Bottomline:
Seat: *****
Service: ****
Food: ***1/2
There is a reason Starlux Airlines is now my 2nd favorite business class product and the excellent seat + friendly courteous service + great menu selection is the primary reason for it. I love the business class suite and the mattress is great for sleeping on long TPAC flights.
