Marriott Courtyard Solana Beach/Del Mar
717 South Highway 101, Solana Beach, California 92075 USA
This is a category 5 hotel located about half a block from the Del Mar North Beach on Highway 101 very close to the famous Del Mar racetrack.
The exterior of the hotel looks pretty unimpressive but inside is a different story. The lobby area looks real cool with lots of modern style furnishings. The business center is in main lobby area with 3 computers and a fax/copier. Complimentary coffee/tea with snacks is available in the evenings.
The center courtyard features a heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi and a bar + restaurant (open in the morning and night). There is also a nice sitting area with stylish patio furniture by a fireplace.
The king rooms all face the next door shopping area parking lot so we requested a 2-Queen room instead of the original king room. The room featured a microwave, refrigerator and a coffee maker.
The bathroom was again pretty small but this time my pet peeve was a sliding door instead of a real door.
There are 2 beaches within 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. The first one is the Del Mar North Beach which is a pet friendly beach. The other beach, called Fletcher Cove Beach is a top rated beach that is located in a residential area behind the hotel. This is one hotel where you can spend 2 days without needing to drive around because you got 2 beaches and a few top rated restaurants all within walking distance.
