Qatar Airways flies a Boeing 777-300 ER between Johannesburg and Doha. The business class has 42 seats (7 rows with 2 x 2 x 2 configuration) that convert into flat beds. In current day and age, not having business class with direct-aisle access for all seats is not competitive any more. However, the seat had a lot of space in front and I was traveling with my wife where not having direct aisle access was not so problematic so it worked out in the end.

Bottomline:

Seat: ****

Service: *****

Food: *****

This was our first time flying Qatar Airways and I was really impressed by everything but the seat. I am partial to business class with 1 x 2 x 1 configuration where all seats are direct aisle access. However, my wife observed that the seat pitch was really good. Another thing is that the feet area does not go inside a cubby hole and rather stays open so the seat felt more spacious.

The service was very good throughout the flight. The FAs were very courteous and caring and came by and checked often and cleared tables frequently during lunch.

Lunch was simply delicious. I really liked my chicken kabsa and Karen her fish. We also enjoyed the arabic mezze.
