New Hotel, Athens (a member of Design Hotels™) is located in the heart of Athens within 5 minute walking distance from Syntagma Square. The hotel has convenient access to the Athens International airport (Eleftherios Venizelos) via Bus (X95) or Athens Metro Line 3 from Syntagma Square. This hotel is a part of the Marriott program and costs 35,000 points/night for an award night stay.
We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of our Greece trip and 1 night at the end. The best feature of the hotel is its good excellent location. We did not use any transportation during our stay in Athens except for getting to and from the airport. We walked from the hotel to the all the Athens sights such as Acropolis (2 km), Monastiraki (750 m), Plaka (300 m), Hadrian’s Library (850 m), Hadrian’s Arch (500 m), National Botanical Garden (600 m), Pandrossou Street Market (650 m). You get the picture. If you want to stay close to the tourist sights in Athens, this hotel is it.
Check-in was very quick as we were arriving just a few weeks after Greece had opened post-pandemic.
A points based award stay along with lack of any high elite status with the Marriott program meant no complimentary breakfast for us. But there are so many dining options within a short walking distance that it was a non-issue. There is also a pastry/coffee shop right across the street.

- Location, Location, Location!! Most tourist sights are within walking distance of this hotel. We did not use any transportation during our stay other than to get to and from airport.
- Great use of 35K Marriott Free Night certificates for stay in the city
