Avant Garde Suites, Santorini

Avant Garde Suites is located in the quiet town of Akrotiri on south-west part of Santorini. Most tourists who want the caldera view in Santorini usually go for towns like Oia and Fira. We found this hotel on Booking.com and after visiting the hotel’s website we fell in love with it. The hotel is located about 11 km from Santorini Airport which didn’t take long as we were renting a car for our stay in Santorini.
We were the very first and only guests during our stay since reopening of this hotel (post covid closure). The manager was very courteous, friendly and helpful.
The hotel features amazing caldera views from the pool.
The actual room was quite basic but neat and clean. We had booked this hotel at the height of the pandemic and felt we got a great deal for the money!!
Guests get a breakfast order form each day with quite a few options!!
Thumbs up:
- Amazing caldera views!! The hotel is right on the caldera and you get great views from the property, pool area, entrance etc.
- Property is quite spread out and almost no stairs to go through. We saw that a lot of the hotels in Oia, Fira on the rim of the caldera had quite a few stairs. No lugging around luggage or walking up and down during the stay.
- Big parking lot for people renting cars right on the property
- Beautiful pool with great caldera views
- Quite a few dining options within 10 minutes walking distance
- Staff were fantastic – very friendly and helpful.
Thumbs down:
- Shower was very small and space constrained
- Far from main Santorini attractions of Oia and Fira for people without rental cars. We did not research any public transportation options.
