Flight:  Emirates EK 216 from Los Angeles to Dubai

Duration: 15 hours 30 minutes

Equipment: A388 (Airbus 380-800)

Class: Business

Seat: 23A (Bulkhead window seat in rear cabin)

Seat Specification: True Flat Bed, Seat pitch: 48 “, Seat width: 18.5 ”

Emirates business class on an Airbus 380 is located entirely on the upper deck behind the First class. The business class section is split into a much smaller rear cabin with only 4 rows of 1 x 2 x 1 configuration with the rest of the rows in a much bigger forward cabin with a total of 76 seats.

Main Business Class (forward cabin)
Business Class Rear Cabin on Emirates A380
My seat – 23 A
My bulkhead seat – 23 A

The window seats alternate between having the seat armrest by the aisle and then by the window. The seats with armrest by the window are extremely private and in seated position you can barely see anyone in the cabin.

Plenty of storage area by the side of the seat
Charging ports, Complimentary Water, mini-storage area, IFE Remote
Emirates Business Class Dining Menu for LAX – DXB
Post Takeoff Drinks with warm nuts, Appetizer – Smoked Salmon Carpaccio with poached prawns and lemon pepper aioli

The appetizer was very delicious and the aioli went perfect with the prawns and salmon.

Entree – Acchari Murgh (Pickled Chicken), Dessert – Layered Chocolate Mousse

I loved the chicken gravy however I was not a fan of okras with onions. The chocolate mousse dessert was very delicious. Having a bite of the tart raspberry compote in between bites of decadent chocolate mousse allowed me to polish off the plate entirely!!

Forward Cabin

After a quick trip to the bar area, I came back and laid out the seat to bed and went to sleep.

Seat in flat-bed mode

The bed was actually very comfortable and I slept for a good 6 hours. After waking up, I watched a movie for a couple of hours and then went to sleep for another 4-5 hours and opted to skip breakfast (even though its early evening arrival to Dubai, they serve breakfast).

Bottomline:

Seat: ****1/2

Service: ****

Food: ****1/2

I had read on multiple blogs that the Emirates Business class is worth traveling only on the A380 aircraft as rest of the aircrafts have angled-flat seats.

The seats are very private especially the seats with arm-rests facing the aisle instead of the window. I could barely see anyone in the cabin while seated. The cushion was very comfortable and converted to a nice length bed with good firmness making for a great night sleep.

I loved the smoked salmon and poached prawn appetizer. The achari murgh was delicious and so was the chocolate mousse. All in all the catering was superb out of Los Angeles. I would have preferred to been offered dinner again before landing instead of breakfast.

Service was very friendly and our flight attendant kept checking on me frequently to see if I was comfortable.
