Day 1:

Me and my parents arrived in Male International Airport in the morning from Kochi, India. Karen’s flight from London was delayed by 3 hours so I made the decision to send my parents to the resort so they did not have to wait with me at the airport. Hilton Amingiri representative at the airport assured me that my parents would not have to wait at the hotel to get a room even though both rooms were booked under my wife’s name and mine.

After Karen arrived at the airport, we took the same speedboat to the resort.

After we arrived at the resort, the manager assigned us our concierge for the trip (Hassan) who took us on an introductory tour of the resort and dropped us off at our villa.

The resort has happy hour at the Sip Lounge and as Hilton Diamond members, the alcoholic beverage is complimentary and I am not about to turn down free drinks in the Maldives!! We requested our concierge Hassan to drive us.

After getting back to the villa I went to spend some time with my parents while Karen decided to take a swim in the pool and enjoy some complimentary wine from Hilton.

That evening was one of the World Cup quarter finals. We ordered some pizza and lentil/rice from room service. It was delivered within 45 minutes and we set up the table by the pool and had dinner.

This day had the best weather during our trip. It was warm and sunny and the temperature at the pool was just perfect for even my dad to get in. For all the travels we have done with my parents in past 10 years, I don’t remember him ever getting in the pool but I made sure he packed swim trunks for this trip!!

When my Dad called out to me from the villa next door on how amazing the pool was, I decided to give him a visit and join on the pool next door 🙂
