Airline Review: LOT Polish Airlines – Business Class (Boeing 787-900 with Lie Flat Seats) : Los Angeles – Warsaw (LO 24)

This was our first time flying LOT Polish Airlines. The business class has 4 rows of 2 – 2 – 2 seats with only the middle rows getting direct aisle access for all seats. Since it was just me and my wife flying, we didn’t mind having the window/aisle seats but if flying with a stranger definitely would opt for the middle row. The cabin felt very open and not much privacy.

One note on the boarding process, LOT boards Business Class along with Premium Economy, travelers with kids all at the same time. It felt a bit chaotic.

Most notable thing about the seats was actually the super comfortable legroom.

Pre-take off appetizer (tomato & cheese), Post take off nuts with drinks

Tuna with blanched beans and marinated onions, Seasonal Salad

My dinner entrée – Baked perch fillet with pistachios lemon peel and fennel potato puree with vegetables

Karen’s dinner entrée – Braised rib-eye steak in wine sauce with mashed potatoes and vegetables

My fish was very tasty paired with the fennel potato puree while Karen did not like her steak as it was too dry.

I ordered the opera cake while Karen went with marble raspberry cheesecake but both of us ended up being served a tiramisu cake instead. Maybe the food that got loaded did not match the printed menu :). The cake was still tasty!!

After dinner I went to sleep right away. The IFE did not have many choices at all. The bed is super long and comfortable. One advantage of the seats is your legs are not constrained sleeping.

Pre-landing meal – Baked trout with edmame salad, Quiche with fava beans and creamy tomato sauce, cold cuts and cheese

I am not a fan of 2 – 2 – 2 layout but other than that, the seat was wide enough and had very large legroom. One advantage of the seat was because of lack of cubby-hole when the bed is laid out your legs are not constrained. The cabin felt too open and lacking any privacy partitions.

LOT catering was fine and surpassed my expectations actually. Karen did not like her rib-eye steak while my fish was quite tasty especially paired with the puree.

The service was efficient and quick but lacked warmth and smiles that you usually get from Asian/ME carriers.
