Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort
Karon Nui Alley, Karon, Mueang Phuket District, Phuket 83100, Thailand

Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort is a SPG Category 4 property located about 24 miles from the Phuket International Airport. This hotel is the only hotel in Phuket with its own private beach which is inaccessible to non-guests. The hotel is near Karon Beach and only 5 minutes away from Patong Beach. A free night at this resort costs 10,000 SPG points or 5,000 SPG points + $75 per night with SPG Cash + Points rate. We booked 2 rooms for 1 night using the latter.

Front desk

The resort is a pretty secluded property which makes it difficult to walk to any restaurants or other amenities outside the property. You are basically a captive audience here unless you want to take a cab or tuk-tuk to other places.

Hotel Lobby

Check-in was fairly quick and we were given a cool towel and welcome drink on arrival. We were upgraded from Deluxe Pool View to Deluxe Ocean view room with patio.

The patio is fairly large and had a view of both the pools and also the ocean.

View from Patio

The hotel has its own completely private beach which has hills on both sides making it inaccessible to non-guests.

Hotel Grounds

The beach is very beautiful, clean and well maintained.

Private Beach

One of the attractions of this resort is the daily visit of an elephant with its trainer to the beach which attracts a lot of guests.

The property has around 10 restaurant/bars. We had dinner at the Latest Recipe restaurant on this property. My wife had the Chicken Tikka burger and we had the lentils (Daal Tadka) with naan.

Papads & Bread
Daal Tadka with Rice

The Daal Tadka with rice was ok but it was a disaster with the chicken tikka for my wife. She had severe food poisoning (most likely from the food) and was up all night vomiting. We reported this to the front desk during the checkout and they had us fill out their complaint form. After we arrived home I received an email from the management requesting us to fax in some more forms which we didn’t pursue any further.

Thumbs up:

  • Only resort in Phuket with its own secluded, private beach.
  • Beautiful, well maintained beach.

Thumbs down:

  • Possible Health and Safety issues regarding food. My wife had a serious food poisoning from eating at their on-property restaurant.
  • You are a captive audience at the property. Otherwise you need to get a cab to the town which can get costly.
