Flight: Lufthansa LH 457 from Los Angeles to Frankfurt
Aircraft: B748 (Airbus 747-800)
Class: Business
Seat: 11D, Middle Aisle
Seat Specification: Full Flat, 180 degree recline, Seat pitch: 64″. Seat width: 20″
Lufthansa operates a Boeing 747-800 on this route. To be frank, this is one of my favorite aircraft to travel on (because of upstairs). There are 8 rows of 2 x 2 x 2 configuration downstairs and 8 rows of 2 x 2 configuration upstairs in Business Class. I usually prefer the upstairs because its more cozy. However, I was traveling by myself and preferred the middle seats downstairs as they are the only ones where each seat has direct aisle access.
Flight attendant came by and after introducing herself handed the menu.
Lunch service started soon after takeoff.
The fish was ok but I was really sold on the flavorful yellow Thai Curry. I enjoyed having the delicious curry with Basmati rice.
I was full by the time I was done with cheese try and opted out of ice-cream for dessert. I laid the seat out in bed mode and went to sleep for the next 6 hours.
I had a pretty good sleep and was awakened for breakfast service.
Bottomline:
Seat: ****
Service: ****
Food: ***
The gold standard of business class seats currently is all seats having direct aisle access and Lufthansa is still lacking in this. Most of the airlines are moving to or have moved to 1 x 2 x 1 configuration in Business class and 2 x 2 x 2 just doesn’t cut it any more.
The service was pretty good during the flight. The FA was sweet, courteous and prompt in clearing the table and refilling drinks.
Other than the delicious yellow curry during entree round, food was unremarkable for the flight.
