Flight: Vietnam Airlines VN99 from San Francisco to Saigon
Duration: 15 hours 30 minutes
Aircraft: A359 (Airbus 350-900)
Class: Business
Seat: 2D-2G (Center Aisle)
Seat Specification: True Flat Bed. Seat width: 20.2″, Bed length: 75″
This was our first time flying on Vietnam Airlines. It was a A350-900 aircraft with a single business cabin of 8 rows in 1-2-1 reverse herringbone configuration.
Before we even sat down, the flight attendant came up and volunteered to put on seat cover for us.
Me and Karen both ordered the Saigon Sunlight (Whiskey, 7up with lemonade), Vietnam Airlines signature drink. It was refreshing.
The duck was tender and delicous.
My cod was a bit soggy and lacked crunch. Karen prefers her steak well done and this one unfortunately was pink in the middle. She ate around the edges. 🙂
I enjoyed the cheesecake but the ice-cream was hard as a rock. Even after waiting for 5 minutes it wasn’t melting!!
The bed length was quite long and I was able to maneuver my legs comfortably. I was able to sleep well for about 10 hours on this flight. Breakfast service started 2 hours before landing.
The potatoes were bland and I hate spinach. Karen liked her french toast.
Bottomline:
Seat: ****
Service: ****
Food: **1/2
The reverse herringbone seat had plenty of legroom and made for a good night sleep of 10 hours on this long haul flight. Neither Karen or I cared much for either of the meals on this flight. However, the flight attendants were courteous and attentive.
